We have been supporting Veteran and War Widows since 2006
At DOTS Allied Health, our experienced clinicians are committed to delivering high-quality care that addresses the unique needs of those who have served our country and their families.
Since 2006, we’ve been dedicated to supporting veterans and war widows, and deeply appreciate the support provided by the Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA). Our goal is to ensure you receive the support you need to maximise your independence.
Our Approach
As part of a national reference group that liaises directly with DVA, we understand its complexities and limitations. Our involvement also ensures that we are always up to date with any changes that directly affect our clients, enabling us to serve you better.
We accept DVA Gold and eligible White cards as payment with a GP or hospital referral, making the process as smooth as possible for you.
How we can help you
DVA Occupational Therapy Services
Our occupational therapists are experienced in maximising independence and safety. We provide tailored home modifications to enhance accessibility and security, such as rails, ramps, and stair modifications.
Our rehabilitation services are designed to restore function and independence following surgery, hospital admission, or for neurological conditions such as stroke, multiple sclerosis (MS), and motor neurone disease (MND).
We work with you to gain or maintain independence in daily living activities including meal preparation, personal care such as showering, toileting and independent management of incontinence, as well as medication management. We can also help to coordinate care when you need help.
We offer energy conservation education to help you manage your daily activities more effectively and improve your quality of life. We can also support your mobility by prescribing walking aids, wheelchairs, and other devices.
And support your cognitive capacity and strategies to maximise your safety and independence.
Dietetics Services for DVA
Our dietitians are committed to optimising your nutritional intake according to your age, lifestyle, medical history, food preferences, and medication requirements.
We provide nutritional support for managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, and gastrointestinal disorders. Our team also offers assistance with home-based tube feeding, providing essential education and training for both patients and caregivers.

Collaborative Approach to support our veterans and war widows
At DOTS Allied Health, we believe in a holistic approach to care. We work closely with your multidisciplinary team, including medical professionals, to ensure comprehensive care. We coordinate with community care workers to support your overall well-being and independence.
Living safely & independently at home
Our primary goal is to enable you to live safely and independently at home, managing your health condition or disability effectively. We strive to maximise your independence through personalised interventions and support, and to provide necessary modifications and aids to enhance your quality of life.
We liaise with other services such as Veterans Home Care (VHC) and Homecare packages to maximise your supports.
Our targeted services tailored to meet specific needs
We offer a range of targeted services tailored to meet your needs. Our occupational therapists assist with managing leg swelling (vascular oedema) and associated chronic wounds.
We provide support for those living with memory loss and dementia, offering cognitive strategies to work with these conditions.
We help with the prescription of household aids, including electric beds, recliner chairs, showering and toileting aids, and car transfer aids. To reduce the risk of falls, we implement effective prevention strategies and modifications.
Our chronic pain management education is designed to help manage your pain. For those with low vision, we provide education and aids to improve daily functioning. Additionally, we recommend and support the installation of personal alarm systems to enhance safety at home and in the community.
